About Citizens for a Safe Community
Citizens for a Safe Community is a dedicated citizens committee committed to supporting and raising funds for the Carbondale Fire District's two ballot measures aimed at increasing funding. We aim to provide factual information regarding the sales tax and bond issue to the community, as well as promote community engagement and awareness. Join us in making a difference today.

Why is new funding essential?
After recent state property tax cuts reduced our revenue by over $1 million annually (HB 24B-1001), the District must secure new funding to keep pace with rising emergency calls and service demands.
What the District is facing
+ Property tax cuts will cost the District $1M+ every year starting in 2026.
+ Reserves are being used to fill the gap— but that’s not sustainable.
+ With property taxes shrinking, new funding is critical to keep services strong.
